TF believes in holistic development of the humankind, where education, grooming, character building, primary health-care and livelihood are intermingled for a balanced growth of a society. TF already has a broad base for providing education in the remote regions of Pakistan, where ‘school health services’ are adequately taken care of through ‘TF Health Initiative’ (TFHI). TF has also set up a state-of-the-art vocational training centre / school of skills for the siblings and the parents of its students in Sui, Dera Bugti of Balochistan.

Education:

TF Grammar School System

TF owns and operates a chain of schools for the poor communities in the deprived regions of Pakistan. These are co-education grammar schools with all-female faculty and are managed by the professional women. Tarbiyah (holistic grooming and character building) forms an integral part of the lessons imparted to the students.

These schools provide high quality education to nearly 4,000 students at highly subsidized cost. More than half of these students study on scholarship. Details of these schools are available at: www.taaleem.pk.

Public Sector Schools

TF is supporting a number of public sector schools across Pakistan. It is providing a variety of educational and teaching support services to nearly 70,000 students enrolled in 143 branches of ‘Islamabad Model Schools’, operated by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training in the capital city of Islamabad.

TF has recently signed a memorandum of supporting a students’ population of over 200,000 in all 411 schools of the Federal Ministry of Education in Islamabad.

Other Schools

TF is collaborating with the low-fee schools in Pakistan who are committed to philanthropy and are providing education services to the most deserving communities in the marginalized areas. These are mainly private schools run by some charities but are struggling to break even and sustain.

TF aims at supporting some low-income schools operated by ‘Akhuwat Foundation’, ‘Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education’ (PAGE) and the like in Pakistan for mainstreaming the gender in nation building efforts.

Education Technologies

TF is the market leader in Pakistan when it comes to innovating, developing and deploying technology-based solution to education and training. TF has been able to teach its students online in its Grammar School System since 2015, using LMS-based digital content, developed with the help of some national and international software houses, who supported the cause voluntarily.

TF is striving to reach out to every single child of school-going age through technology and make him/her a productive citizen of the state.

Health:

TF Health Initiative

This is a public health initiative of Taaleem Foundation that started in Zhob, Balochistan during 1991, when TF ventured in providing ‘School Health Services’ to the students and teachers of ‘TF Grammar School System’.

Starting from simply recording primary health care indicators of the target communities of teachers and students, the initiative grew in offering some hygiene supplies to the students and counseling sessions for the siblings and parents in public health, preventive health and nutrition related concerns to the target communities. TF has recently distributed over 10,000 face masks and 1,000 tooth brushes to the students’ community in Pakistan during the COVID pandemic in 2021 through its CSR partner ‘Health & Hygiene Ltd, UK’.

Skills

Skill Development

TF is operating a state-of-the-art vocational training centre / school of skills for preparing young artisans in Sui, Dera Bugti of Balochistan with the kind courtesy of ‘Pakistan Petroleum Limited’ (PPL), the CSR partner in the project. Efforts are in hand to empower the local communities of the like with adequate livelihood opportunities by way of harnessing indigenous skills that are in demand.

Efforts are also in hand to add similar skills training facility at each TF school. TF has signed a partnership agreement with the ‘Memon Industrial and Technical Training Institute’ (MITI) in Karachi for imparting these skills and linking these artisans with the market. Negotiations are also in hand with ‘The Hunar Foundation’ (THF) for similar support of vocational and technical training to the marginalised communities.

Livelihood:

Production Facility

The artisans graduating from any TF-supported institution are locally engaged at the ‘Production House’, available on-campus to start their commercial activities, using in-house facilities. The financial resource base however remains limited to support a large number of trainees being added in the skilled labour.

Market Linkages

TF is constantly engaged with the industry for developing institutional linkages of the skilled human resource with the local and national markets. TF is seriously considering launching the brand of ‘BizPoor’ to promote the business of this poor yet determined workforce to connect with the international buyers. This would minimise the role of middleman and help pass on major chunk of the sale proceeds to local artisans of the marginalised communities, struggling for sustaining their livelihood in the unfavourable conditions.
